OCPS has now launched an application for a Judicial Review of the London Borough of Hounslow (LBH)'s decision to grant planning, challenging LBH, on the basis of illegality.

Last year the LBH granted planning permission for a 42m high, 10 storey development of 134 flats at 1 Burlington Lane on the Hogarth Roundabout.  This was despite very strong opposition.  Following another strong campaign of objections, the Mayor of London decided not to intervene.

  We argue that LBH failed to take into account the conclusions of the Planning Inspector in a previous application, which kept the building at the same height.  LBH thereby failed to observe the principle of consistency.  LBH also got the law wrong in saying that Councillors did not need to give any weight to the Planning Inspector’s conclusions or give reasons for not doing so.

This is the last opportunity to try to stop the building of this wholly inappropriate development, which would tower over the heart of the unique and sensitive conservation areas of Old Chiswick and Chiswick House.

If allowed to proceed, 1 Burlington Lane will be an overwhelming and devastating presence in Old Chiswick and the damage will persist for generations.  We believe we have a duty to preserve our historic environment and our beautiful river walks for those future generations.  Please help us.  This really is our last chance.
