Thames21

"Thames21 is one of the country’s leading waterway charities. [It] is the voice for London’s waterways, working with communities to improve rivers and canals for people and wildlife. We mobilise over 9000 volunteers every year to clean and green the capital’s 400 mile network of waterways".

In 2011, OCPS began working with T21, some of whose aims are closely allied with those of the society. We started by developing a Management Plan for Chiswick Eyot. In November 2011 a consensus for this was arrived at which addressed the requirements to conserve the Eyot both as the last remaining Historic Withy Bed on the Thames, and as a Local Nature Reserve. We meet up with T21 formally once a year to monitor progress and check priorities. See Management Plan for Chiswick Eyot 2011 and the 2012 update.

The River Sub-Committee works closely day-by-day with T21 to conserve this 'unique but fragile' environment. OCPS activities to this end are listed on our About our Work Page, and those of T21 can be found on their website.
